Lake superior
Friends and family joined us for a candlelit walk through the snow to Prince's Island Park where we had a casual fireside ceremony and hand-fasting, assisted by our grandmothers, followed with mead and canapes.

We have a deer who brings her friends to eat the apples that have fallen from a tree outside the living room. We also have a squirrel who has a nest outside the chimney - probably not ideal, but we're in no hurry to move it - and who suns itself in our window and builds snow forts.

We had driven by about 30 houses and made appointments to view four. The first three had dirt foundations and one was being held up by a boulder on one end and some large tree branches on the other. We immediately liked the fourth which was log, had a block foundation, a kitschy paint job, and a lot of treed acres.

Our rescued dog, Japhy. He's a four year old stray who was found on the street. We adopted him from the Kingston Humane Society. He LOVES to run!
